Temporada de resúmenes, vol. 2

Ahora, el turno de las series…

Este año, la lista de series es considerablemente más corta que la del año pasado, porque como ya mencioné el post sobre pelis, estuve cansada. Es más fácil durante las vacaciones, con tanto tiempo libre, pero durante el resto del año se me complicó bastante, porque había días que avanzaba de a medio episodio por vez, porque me quedaba dormida. Gracias, estudios universitarios.

• Galavant (s02) (excelente, como la primera, pero la cancelaron, sad sad sad)
• War & Peace

• Shameless US (s06, 07) (la temporada 7 no se puede creer, so many feelings)
• The casual vacancy (acabo de caer en cuenta de que Barry Fairbrother es el blanquito de Penny Dreadful)
• Crazy ex Girlfriend (s01, 02) (la temporada 1-que había empezado el año anterior- la descolla. La segunda temporada empezó bien, después se puso meh, después se empezó ir todo un poquito al carajo y ahora en enero continua, así que veremos cómo sigue)
• Teachers (creo que no es para todo el mundo, pero a mí me causa mucha risa y espero a que se estrene la segunda temporada)
• Happy Valley (s01, s02) (no sé si va a haber una tercera temporada, pero POR FAVOR)
• Grantchester (s01, s02)
• Versailles (entré a verla por Louis, pero me terminé enganchando más con Philippe)
• Vikings (s04) (ongoing, pero OMAIGA)
• Girls (s05)
• Once upon a time (s06)
• Ripper Street (s04-s05) (hace unos días terminé de ver la última y definitiva temporada. ALL THE FEELS. Tiene bastantes altibajos a lo largo de los episodios, pero los mejores son el 3, 4 y 5, por si alguien le interesa (?) )
• Serial (s02) (podcast)
• Love (s01)
• Outlander (s02) (esta temporada fue más por la ropa que por otra cosa, pero igual sigue estando muy buena)
• Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (s01, s02)
• Game of Thrones (s06) (INCREDIBOL)
• Penny Dreadful (s03) (nunca olvidaré cómo me hizo llorar el episodio  4, que acabo de corroborar en IMDb es el mejor rankeado de toda la serie)
• Arrested Development (s01)
• Broad City (s01-02-03) (otra comedia, que no será para el gusto de todo el mundo, pero para mí es genial)
• Mad Men (s01-02-03-04-05) (ESTA SERIE PAR FAVAR)
• Mr. Robot (s02)  (quiero ser hacker, YA) (me falta mucha Cindor)
• Halt and Catch Fire (s03) (ahhh cómo re gusta esta serie)
• Narcos (s02) (querés que ganen los buenos pero también querés que ganen los malos, a pesar de conocer  el final de antemano)
• Poldark (s02) (esta temporada odié a casi todos los personajes, así que mejor rever la primera)
• Steven Universe (S01, 02, 03, 04) (Este año me puse a verla más en serio. Las primera temporada y las últimas dos las vi completas, y de la segunda me faltan unos pocos episodios. No sé qué onda, pero en la tele nunca los pasan en orden cronológico)
• Gilmore Girls: A year in the life
• Search Party (la vi entera en navidad, es super binge watchable (?) porque son sólo diez episodios de media hora cada uno, y creo que es la mejor manera de verla para no perder el interés. Toda la adrenalina de los acontecimientos te meten adentro)

Al final terminé recomendado casi todas, je.

Otro que no agrego a la lista todavía es un podcast que empecé a escuchar hace poco, muy de vez en cuando, pero que me encanta: My Favorite Murder. Siempre me gusta leer en Wikipedia sobre casos irresueltos y asesinos seriales y esas cosas. Y resulta que no soy la única, ni es un “hobby”  tan raro. Y este podcast canaliza todos intereses y es GE. NIAL.

Hace unos meses me bajé una app al celu que se llama TV Showtime. La recomendaron en un canal de Youtube que sigo y decidí probarla. Es exclusivamente de series, y uno puede agregar las series que vio, las que está viendo, las que quiere ver, y te marca cuándo sale un nuevo episodio y cuántos te quedan por ver y así. Está muy bueno para no colgar y para tener un mejor registro de las cosas que una ve erráticamente (como las series animadas, en mi caso). También me divierte leer los comentarios de fellow watchers, ya que la mayoría de las veces nadie mira las mismas series que yo, entonces como que me saco así las ganas de fangirlear.

ESG: Movies I watched in December

¡Hola! And happy new year!

December was my first month of summer break so luckily I had time to watch more movies than the last couple of months


And here they are:

• Bad moms 

When three overworked and under-appreciated moms are pushed beyond their limits, they ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence. (from IMDb)

My opinion: Don't even bother. It's like a high school movie, except it is with moms. And I usually enjoy that type of movies, but this one doesn't add nothing new, and it's pretty meh.

• Fantastic Beasts and where to find them 

The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. (from IMDb)

My opinion: I really liked this movie. I went to watch it with a bit of concern that they would "ruin it", but I think it turned out quite interesting. Unlike the other movies in the franchise, this one didn't have a novel to back it up, so there wans't any book to disapoint (the Fantastic Beasts... book is more like an encyclopedia). Really, I don't even know what I was afraid of,

The most enjoyable parts for me was the actual story, which I hope it will develop in the next films. I'm a little bored of the animation involved in this kind of films, so the scenes involving he beasts were ok, mostly for comic relief, but completely forgettable. The beasts were too shiny, too sparkly and too colourful. I was hoping they would look more like... any oher animal, but I guess magic makes them flamboyant.

• My week with Marilyn

My opinion: It's always sad to see how they used to underestimate her talents. I liked this movie a lot more that I would imagined. It's really lovely and I recommend it.

• Now you see me 2 

The Four Horsemen resurface and are forcibly recruited by a tech genius to pull off their most impossible heist yet (from IMDb)

My opinon: This is one of those movies, like The Hangover, that, imho, had completely unnecesary sequels. Why? If it ain't broken don't fix it. The first one was interesting, cool, fast paced, and this one is EXACTLY THE SAME, but less inspired. It's enjoyable, but it didn't surpass the original.

• Kryptonita 

An Argentinian adaptation of the Justice League series. What would have happened if Superman's ship hadn't landed in Smallville, but in a poor city next to Buenos Aires? Kryptonita tells the story of an unconventional roguish Justice League, trying to save Kal-El's life from the police and no other than Doomsday himself. While kept hostage by Juan Raro (J'onn J'onzz), Cuñataí Güirá (Hawkgirl), El Faisán (Green Lantern), El Ráfaga (The Flash), a transvestite named Lady Di (Wonder Woman) and El Federico (Batman), a night shift doctor fights to keep Nafta Súper alive after removing a chunk of kryptonite from his side. My opinion: Ok, this was interesting. I've wanted to see his movie for awhile and I remember all the fuzz when it premiered. It was definetely not what I was expecting, but I liked it nonetheless. It is based on a novel with the same title, written by an Argentinian author.

I don't think it would be fair to compare it with the massive Hollywood productions (a HUGE difference in budget, duh), but I think they did good with what they had. It mantains a certain comic style, and it has a very dark and gritty aesthetic.

I don't think there's a subtitled or dubbed version of the trailer, so here it goes in Spanish

• Girl asleep

My opinion: I really liked this movie! Is a coming of age movie with a weird oniric twist. It's very aethetically pleasing à la Wes Anderson, with a lot of unnerving strangeness.

• Wreck-it Ralph 

A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives. (from IMDb)

My opinion: I don't think this movie will ever be a classic film from Disney, but it's ok. It has its bright moments and it's enjoyable, but I don't picture myself re-watching it.

• Florence Foster Jenkins 

The story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York heiress who dreamed of becoming an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice. (from IMDb)

My opinion: The only reason why I wanted to watch this movie is Hugh Grant. I'm so used to see him in Bridget Jones' Diary and Notting Hill (over and over and over and over again) that I didn't realize that time went by and he is actually aging!! I'm not getting any younger, either, but in my head he was frozen in time.

The movie is really nice and heartwarming, based on a true story about people with mediocre to none talent, but with a heart of gold (?).

• What we do in the sahdows 

A documentary team films the lives of a group of vampires for a few months. The vampires share a house in Wellington, New Zealand. Turns out vampires have their own domestic problems too. (from IMDb)

My opinion: OH MY GOD THIS MOVIE. I've been wanting to watch this for ages. Watch it. Watch it. WATCH IT. You won't regret it. It's absolutely hilarious, there's really not one moment that is not funny.

Temporada de resúmenes

Como todos los años, empieza la revisión de todo lo que vi y leí en el año que acaba de terminar. 
Y como todos los años, empezaré por el listado de películas.

El 2016 resultó ser bastante pobre y triste para mí en cuestión de películas. El formato más corto de lo episódico se acomodó más a mi rutina diaria y tener que sentarme a ver películas de más de hora y media no me resultó mucho esta vez. 
Releyendo la lista, comprobé que en todo el año fui sólo tres veces al cine (sad sad sad) y que dejé pasar muchas películas que me había dicho "no perdérmelas ni loca". Este año me agarró cansada, con pocas ganas de pasar mi tiempo libre fuera de casa y con poco dinero, además, para gastar en entradas (que, por cierto, no se vuelven más baratas con el tiempo).

La lista es bastante magra, y se redujo considerablemente el promedio, que quedó muy por debajo de 1 película por semana. 

Qué bajón terminó siendo lo que escribí.
Pero buen, a continuación, la lista como siempre, con sus respectivos links a IMDb y mi subjetiva puntuación.
